Of all the white Munson varieties, we think this has the greatest potential for a wine of structure and finesse. Our confidence is reinforced by its healthy and generous habit in the vineyard, a true indicator of its robust American lineage.

Vine Characteristics

  • Vigorous.
  • Large shield shaped leaves are finely toothed with open petiolar sinus. Leaves have a pastel green-yellow color with red petioles.
  • Potential to produce three large to very large clusters per shoot.
  • Berries are perfectly spherical.
  • The ideal balance of sugar, acidity, and a stable pH is easy to reach with this grape and tend to align naturally with the development of pleasant tropical fruit aromatics.
  • Over ripe or sun exposed fruit can develop a ‘white grapey’ aroma in the wine.

Winemaker’s Notes

  • Remarkable undulating acidity.
  • Natural high resistance to oxidation.
  • Benefits greatly from the use of pectinase enzyme on fruit, allowing significantly higher press yield and greater aromatic release.
  • Slight yellow color.
